Louisiana Bucket Brigade

© Bron Moyi

Since its founding in 2000, the Louisiana Bucket Brigade (LBB) has used grassroots action to create sustainable neighborhoods free from industrial pollution and hasten the transition from fossil fuels. LBB works alongside communities that neighbor the state’s oil refineries, chemical plants, and other petrochemical infrastructure. Its current partner is RISE St. James, an organization led by African American women whose homes and ancestral land in St. James Parish have been targeted to become a petrochemical industrial zone. Louisiana Bucket Brigade and its partners are key members of the coalition to end the petrochemical industry’s destruction of St. James.
